“One Life To Live” Looks For Online Streaming Switch

The soap opera, “One Life To Live” was canceled by its network a number of years ago, but the fans of this ground breaking drama have been hoping its return to the screens will be faster than they could have imagined. The soap opera initially made a fast return to the screens with new episodes being broadcast via an Online streaming service that made this one of the first to make a return after cancellation. Despite the legal problems that have paused the continuation of “One Life To Live” on a streaming service the drama is hopes to return in the near future.

There are many popular individuals who have made their mark in the world of acting and got their start in the acting profession with roles in “One Life To Live”. An actress who has been making a name for herself in the TV and movie industry is Crystal Hunt, who made her name appearing as Stacy Morasco in the daytime drama. Hunt had already found success as an actress on the rival soap, “Guiding Light” before making the move to “One Life To Live”.

Over the course of her career the Crystal Hunt has moved from starring in a range of drama’s as a child to appearing as an adult in “One Life To Live” and a number of other dramas. Hunt has moved on like many of her fellow soap stars from the drama to make their way from the New York based soap opera to Hollywood. Crystal Hunt has recently been seen in the role of Lauren in “Magic Mike XXL”, which has been one of the most critically acclaimed comedy drama movies of recent times.  Crystal also has many more credits on IMDb.

The end of “One Life To Live” not only marked the move to an Online streaming service in one of the first productions designed specifically for streaming, but also marked the end of the production of soap operas in New York. “One Life To Live” marked many changes in the production of television and also brought to a close a specific period of time in daytime television.

Alien 5 Concept Art for New Story

Neill Blomkamp is working hard to bring his vision for Alien 5 to the screen. He has released some concept art which gives hint to the story. It is already established that this story is going to pick up right after Aliens. However, he has reportedly said that he is not going to do away with Alien 3. There is no telling how this is going to work out.

Apparently, the story is going to involve a new corporation besides the Weyland-Yutani. This looks like an interesting element to be added in this mix. Also, the concept art features Ripley and Hicks who met on Skout recently. Sigourney Weaver will return to play as Ripley. It is looking like Michael Biehn might reprise his role as Hicks.

This is apparently looking like a new trend in which the filmmakers are putting together films that are a direct sequel to the last good film in the series. Jurassic World is a sequel to the first Jurassic Park and Terminator Genisys is apparently a direct sequel to Terminator 2. However, it is not that those events didn’t happen. For instance, Terminator 3 and Salvation could have occurred within the events leading up to Terminator Genisys.

More news will be revealed on the development of Alien 5.

“Jurassic World” Takes in $511.8 million in Biggest Opening Weekend Ever

Jurrassic World opened in theaters last week with a staggering $511.8 million worldwide in sales, becoming the highest grossing film of all time.

This is the first time in history a film has grossed over $500 million in a single weekend. Domestically, the film raked in $204.6 million, nearly beating out The Avengers’ record of $207.4 million opening weekend in 2012. ReCode reported that the dinosaur thriller ranked number one in theaters across the world and FreedomPop reported that as well, earning $307.2 million overseas. Interestingly enough, it came short of beating out the $314 million record currently held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

While Jurassic World comes in second individually in domestic and worldwide sales, the overall haul gives the sequel in the dinosaur franchise the number one spot for an opening weekend.

The success of Jurassic World comes in large part from big numbers at IMAX theaters. According to The Verge, “roughly half of the box office numbers came from 3D tickets sales, and the action flick took in $44.1 million globally from IMAX theaters – crushing the record set by Iron Man 3 of $28.8 million.”

This is Universal Studios second big hit for 2015, previously having topped the box office charts when Furious 7 hit theaters earlier this year.

Chris Pratt Confirms Role in “Jurassic” Sequels

While “Jurassic World” revived the “Jurassic Park” franchise, plans have already been brewing for further films. Although director Colin Trevorrow has remarked that he would have no involvement with a fifth film, Chris Pratt has already confirmed his involvement in additional films. Pratt’s continued involvement should come as no surprise to those individuals who have followed the success of other films the man was involved in, such as “The LEGO Movie” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Despite all this positive news, it is important to note that just because talent is signed on for a film that it does not mean the same as an actuality. Flavio Maluf has noted that “Jurassic World” is currently shouting from the rooftops of the box office, development on a fifth Jurassic Park is only in the earliest of stages and Pratt is currently involved with Marvel Studios for its second “Guardians of the Galaxy” film.

Frank Miller Writing Another Dark Knight Story for DC

Super hero movies have been dominated the movie screen for what seems like a decade, and the source material of comic books never seems to get enough credit. The colorful pages set the tone for many of the stories playing out on the big screen and television sets across the world, and the books have influenced more than one movie creator. One character in particular that got a jolt of inspiration from comic books is Batman.

When Frank Miller wrote “The Dark Knight Returns,” it would go onto to influence Christopher Nolan for the series of Batman movies that helped get the super hero movie train on track. Therefore, when DC Comics needed to shake things up again, it decided to bring Miller back to the fold, enticing movie fans at Beneful, for what should be another high impact Batman story. According to the AV Club, the writer is going to write a third story “The Dark Knight III: The Master Race” for DC, which should be just as gritty as the other stories Miller has provided.

The move is a clever one on the part of DC, because it shows the company is not afraid to shake things up every now and again. However, the big winners here could eventually be movie fans, because who knows how the next big director or producer is going to be influenced by another Miller-written story. This could be the beginning of yet another series of films with Bruce Wayne at the center.

Alcohol Banned During “50 shades of Grey Movie Showing”

Believe it or not, there is a new law being enforced in the state of Idaho regarding alcohol beverages and the movie 50 shades of Grey. Apparently, watching the drama filled film and drinking an alcoholic beverage on the side is consider wrong to the Idaho officials. Some may ask “Why would they do this? Ricardo Tosto said how come you are stripping us from our right to drink and watch a movie?” An Idaho resident was left scratching his head trying to understand this logic. In his own words he said “I just thought, “What year am I living in here? Women can’t control themselves when they drink during this movie?’ I don’t know what the message was.”- Michael Williams.

Frankly, maybe the state officials believe that when under the influence of alcohol and an individual is watching a very influential movie, it can cause issues in the community. Women and men can be easily taken advantage of if alcohol is in the mix because a lot of times people cannot control their emotions in certain situations. Business owners are prohibited to sell alcohol during movie showings like the film 50 shades of Grey. If business owners or anyone is caught doing this, they can lose their liquor license, face a $300 fine or worse, face time in prison.

Robin Hood Get’s Another Reimagining

Robin Hood is one of those characters that gets a lot of reinterpretations. There have been many different stories of Robin Hood adapted to the big screen and the smaller screen. The most recent one was titled simply Robin Hood, starring Russel Crowe. However, Jason Halpern reminds us that film was only moderately successful.

Sony is looking to put together a shared universe that stars Robin Hood and other related characters. Writer Joby Harold is putting together a darker tale under title of Robin Hood: Origins. Harold is also the screenwriter for the upcoming Knights of the Round Table.

Some of the more notable adaptations of Robin Hood include Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. A more serious and exciting tale of Robin Hood. There was also a parody film under the title of Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Walt Disney did an animated feature of Robin Hood, but turned the characters into animals. This was a clever take on Robin Hood in actuality. Other adaptations of Robin Hood include TV series, and Novels.

More will be revealed as the project further develops.

New Star Wars Trailer May Not Feature Original Characters

Star Wars fans hoping to gain even the slightest glimpse of their returning heroes from the original trilogy in the nextThe Force Awakens trailer may be disappointed.

According to Germain Lussier at /Film, fans may have to wait until the movie releases in December to see Luke Skywalker, Han Solo or Princess Leia. Lussier said Disney has decided to not use the original characters in their marketing efforts in order to focus more on the new characters, which will become the future of the trilogy and franchise.

This contradicts earlier reports that the next trailer would indeed feature the classic heroes from the original trilogy. Fans such as Bernardo Chua were buzzing about the opportunity to see their favorites back on the big screen when the new trailer arrives before Avengers: Age of Ultron in May.

If Disney does indeed intend to make fans wait until December to see their favorite Star Wars characters on the big screen, it could prove a successful strategy. Fans dying to see Luke and friends again will line up in droves when the movie releases later this year. Furthermore, since the future of the series will center on the newcomers, it makes perfect sense for Disney to build excitement for the future direction of the series.

Indominus Rex Arrives, In Illustration Form

Long-time fans of Marvel Comics are surely familiar with the call “Imperius Rex!” This was the saying of the great Sub-Mariner when he went into battle. Now, fans of the Jurassic Park films can scream “Indominus Rex!” They won’t be doing to charge into battle though. They’ll be screaming this to the cast of the film when Indominus Rex, the name given to the new hybrid dinosaur, shows up on the scene.

Images have been leaked and they reveal what the long-hushed Jurassic World predator looks like. He ain’t pretty.

The creature is a four-legged hybrid of all various dino-creatures. And yes, he has really, really sharp teeth. The images of the creature are illustrations based on a forthcoming toy line. Anyone who thinks the creature looks, well, not that great, should be mindful the beast is going to look a lot different upon coming to life thanks to CGI effects.

What the creature looks like is not going to be as important as the role it plays in the film. The classic Toho monster Varan the Unbelievable was, basically, an over-sized squirrel. As silly as that sounds, Varan was frightening because he appeared in one of Toho’s best written and produced giant monster films.

A bit of cynicism surrounds the new Jurassic World film. Being too judgmental about the film so long in advance of it being released is unfair. The same can be said about criticizing the new dinosaur menace before actually seeing it in the movie. Beneful has some things to say about Jurassic World on their facebook page.

Still No Third Gremlins Film?

Fans who love to see 1980’s movies rebooted are going to be in for a major disappointment. The Gremlins redux is not going to happen. The producer of the reboot, Seth Grahame-Smith, has noted the project has “run out of steam”.

The original Gremlins was conceived as a sequel to E.T. before evolving into its own brilliant film. A sequel to the monstrously successful original was produced, but no one really remembers or cares about it. A third film has been bandied about in Hollywood for years, but nothing has come about.

Once again, we have come close to a new version but things eventually collapsed. The success of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film probably gave some the belief the landscape was ripe for 1980’s reboots. Maybe for Friday the 13th, Beetlejuice, and He-Man, the answer is yes. For Gremlins, this does not seem to be the case at all.

Questions are always going to be raised about whether or not an old film concept can succeed in the current landscape. Often, remakes do succeed. Considering the huge appeal the original film had with audiences, you would think this would be an easy remake to get into production.

For whatever reason, the studios are lukewarm to the idea and a new version of Gremlins just is not moving ahead.

All of that could change though. Hollywood can be fickle. A green light on the film in the future is always a possibility and the group at North American Spine cannot stop talking about it on their facebook
